It was 1983 when Achim Perleberg sold greeting cards adorned with Swarovski crystals at the Christmas Market in Essen for the first time. These Christmas cards proved to be such a success that he founded the Perleberg publishing company just one year later. Today, the company has about 200 employees and makes products such as the greeting card range "Lifestyle", the "Motzpuppe", a talking doll, or the Bigfoot characters, which have long captured the giftware market.
Assignment
With their newly designed website, the professional depiction of products as well as the linkage to their shop system, Perleberg is able to address their clients professionally on the internet. At the same time, the new online system relieves the strain on the employees because frequent questions and recurring purchasing processes can be processed automatically via the website.
Implementation
The new online-shop of the Perleberg publishing company is based on the Product Information Management System infuniq® of infuniq Systems GmbH. The PIM solution allows for a central recording and administration of all product data in one database. Changes of the product range are automatically integrated in the PIM-System. Apart from that, all price information, which is required for placing an order, is available to the online shop through the internal ERP-System, whereby the data exchange takes place via a joint folder of an FTP server. Furthermore, different customer-specific price models can be processed in accordance with requirements.
Details
With the new online shop, Perleberg provides its customers with advanced research and ordering possibilities. After having completed the initial registration, users are supplied with personalized functions such as creating individual shopping carts and wish lists. All customer specific information is serviced in the data base, which allows for an individual sales approach. Automatic Cross-Selling recommendations based on the purchase history are then possible. Soon, another expansion, the gift service, will be implemented: the customer can select an article, have it gift-wrapped and sent to any address. Also, the integration of a payment system that guarantees a safe and comfortable payment process is in planning. When an order is completed, the order data is sent to a support team via email. Not only does the electronic order processing save time, in comparison to manual processing, it minimizes the error rates. Thanks to the modular structure of infuniq® Perleberg can upgrade the PIM system adding further modules such as infuniq®print at any point in time.
