Essen, 28.09.2011
Until 1952 it was not known otherwise: "Anyone who wanted to sink an dowel into the wall had to drill a hole first."
OBO with their pioneering spirit changed this fact and developed a metal anchor that could be driven directly into the wall. For craftsmen in this period this was an enormous advantage. These "no-drilling anchors" (in german: „Ohne Bohren-Dübel“ earned the company the brand name OBO. From the very beginning of OBO, this pioneering spirit, entrepreneurial courage and power have been the major spirits throughout the entire company history.
Today, OBO Bettermann employs approximately 2,200 employees and operates in over 60 countries with 40 subsidiaries on all continents. The result is the closeness to the key customers in order to provide professional excellence. With 16,000 products, OBO is the solution provider for electrical infrastructure.
OBO needs the adequate and multilingual online presentation of the approximately 16,000 products in order to meet the demands of international markets. However, the existing PIM-System was not able to publish the information without additional data maintenance. That was a lack of the existing PIM-system. The online catalog was supposed to be integrated in the planned new website . A high degree of usability through logical navigation design, intelligent search capabilities and a clear display of all product information had to be guaranteed with useful special features. Whether first-time visitors, architects or major project planner - everyone should get along instantly and intuitively in the new online catalog.
infuniq systems´ implementation partner communicode has extensive experience with the ECMS from OpenText and was commissioned with the implementation of the international website relaunch.
To realize the online catalog infuniq ® web was used. infuniq ® web is the web application module for online catalogues and can also be connected to a variety of PIM systems as a standalone web application.
The combination of the existing PIM, infuniq® web and OpenText allows OBO to maintain product information with the existing PIM system and transfer product information to the integrated web catalog without additional maintenance.
Marketing information can be easily maintained using the ECMS and without any programming knowledge by the responsible editors, while all product information is represented by infuniq® web.
This combination also enables a parametric search function and the new OBO application search named "OBO Construct".
Thus, the user can easily find products while searching with parameters such as product attributes or by using the respective application scopes.
Intelligent filter functions keep the search from showing incorrect products or no results.
Of course, the user can also find products by using the classic hierarchical navigation. Tender documents, the printing functionality, the Memo Pad, Mounting examples and the PDF-generating opportunities complete the features in the high-end multi-lingual online catalog.
